The nearest airport is Kittilä Airport (KTT), located approximately a 30-minute drive from Ylläs Ski Resort and Kaira Chalet. The closest train station is in Kolari, about a 40-minute drive away. Rovaniemi Airport (RVN) is also an option, with a driving time of approximately two hours.

During the winter season, reservations at Kaira Chalet include four lift passes to Ylläs Ski Resort.

Surrounded by one of Finland’s snowiest fell areas and next to the highest and biggest ski resort in the country, Ylläs Ski Resort, it is an ideal base for unforgettable experiences. The resort features 62 slopes and 26 lifts, along with an extensive 300-kilometre cross-country ski trail network. The fell rises to an elevation of 719 metres, and the longest ski runs extend up to three kilometres.

LOCATION

The chalet is located at the edge of the treeline on Ylläs Fell, directly next to the cross-country ski tracks, with immediate access to Ylläs’ 300 km trail network. The nearest ski lift is just 250 metres away, and in winter guests can ski directly back to the chalet. When the Länsiraja lift is operating, the slopes can also be accessed almost directly from the property.

Set on its own private plot bordering a protected park area, the chalet enjoys a high level of privacy, with only two neighboring properties in the immediate vicinity.

The main hub of Ylläsjärvi Ski Resort is less than 1 km away (approximately a 10-minute walk), offering restaurants, rentals, and the gondola station. Kittilä Airport is located 39 km away and can be reached in about 30 minutes by car.

Luxurious Accommodation

219 m² Chalet on Two Levels

On the ground floor, there are two bedrooms, one of which is a master bedroom with an en-suite private toilet. The floor also includes two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining area, and a fireplace. The living room features floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides, opening onto views of Lapland’s untouched wilderness. The sauna, a large terrace, and a private outdoor hot tub are also located on this level. In addition, the ground floor features utility and laundry facilities.

The upper floor comprises three bedrooms and a shared bathroom with a shower. Upstairs, the Aurora Lounge offers a versatile retreat featuring a TV, a professional karaoke system, and expansive windows perfect for viewing the Northern Lights. The space also includes a private bar and access to a balcony. When needed, the lounge can be converted into a sixth bedroom, with a comfortable sofa bed and acoustic room divider curtains that allow the space to be closed off for added privacy.

5 Bedrooms + lounge

The Chalet features five bedrooms, four with queen-size beds. One bedroom includes a handcrafted, extra-wide premium oak bunk bed, designed to comfortably accommodate adults. In addition, the private lounge can be separated from the rest of the chalet with sound-insulating curtains and offers extra sleeping space for two on a comfortable sofa bed. All beds are fitted with soft, high-quality mattresses, complemented by a curated selection of pillows. Luxurious down-filled duvets provide exceptional comfort for a restful night’s sleep.

All bedrooms have been carefully designed with acoustics and sound insulation in mind. The bedrooms are equipped with solid sound-insulating doors, ensuring a peaceful and undisturbed night’s sleep even when the rest of the chalet is in use.

Kitchen & Bar

The Chalet features a spacious, high-quality kitchen equipped with premium appliances and comprehensive utensils. The kitchen includes two dishwashers with a rapid 20-minute wash program, two fridges and a freezer, as well as two ovens, a large central island, and ample workspace and cabinetry for ingredients and equipment. In the bar area, a third dishwasher is available for added convenience.

The kitchen is thoughtfully positioned slightly apart from the dining area, making it particularly well suited for groups with a private chef, while still preserving an elegant open-kitchen concept. Upstairs, the Aurora Lounge offers a private bar and a relaxed setting to unwind and enjoy the Northern Lights.

Sauna & Spa

The Chalet offers an elegantly designed sauna and spa area. The generously sized sauna seats up to 12 guests and features a large window with views of Lapland’s untouched nature. A private outdoor hot tub with capacity for up to 10 guests is located on the terrace, where you can relax and enjoy the magical Northern Lights under the Arctic sky. The spa area has been thoughtfully designed for both relaxation and social gatherings, making it ideal for unwinding after a day outdoors. Soft ambient lighting, high-quality materials, and direct access to the terrace create a seamless indoor–outdoor wellness experience in all seasons.*

Sound & Entertainment

The chalet features a premium, fully integrated, professional-grade Genelec sound system covering the entire property. In addition to the main living areas, the system extends seamlessly to the sauna, terrace, and spa area, delivering consistent, high-quality sound throughout.

The listening experience is further enhanced by full-ceiling acoustic paneling in the living room, which not only improves sound clarity and music reproduction but also makes the chalet exceptionally calm and acoustically comfortable.

Using the MusicCast app, guests can easily create and customize different listening zones across the chalet. For entertainment, the Aurora Lounge is equipped with a professional-grade karaoke system and a dedicated TV area that can be fully darkened and acoustically softened for movie nights. In addition, the main living room features a motorized 100-inch projection screen and a high-quality laser projector, offering a true home-cinema experience.

Dining room

The dining area seats 10 guests comfortably and can be arranged for up to 12. Floor-to-ceiling windows open to the surrounding Arctic nature. The space features two wine cabinets and can be converted into a conference room with a retractable screen and laser projector. The dining area is separate from the kitchen, making it ideal for groups with a private chef.

Amenities

The chalet is fully prepared for guests upon arrival. All beds are always made, and high-quality bed linen, bathrobes, towels, and slippers are provided for the duration of the stay. Final cleaning is always included, and additional interim or mid-stay cleaning services can be arranged upon request.

Internet Access

The chalet is equipped with a 1000 Mbps fiber-optic connection, providing optimal conditions for remote work, streaming, and staying connected during your stay. Wi-Fi signal is enhanced throughout the chalet with dedicated boosters in every room. In addition, the property features multiple dedicated remote-work stations with wired Ethernet connections, including a fixed Ethernet outlet in the dining area when configured as a conference or meeting space.

The chalet features a dedicated ski room designed for winter convenience and equipment care. Ski lift tickets

Your stay includes four lift passes to Ylläs Ski Resort, provided complimentary with the reservation. The lift passes are valid for the entire duration of your stay, allowing you to enjoy the slopes freely throughout your holiday.

The chalet is equipped with two 11 kW Type 2 electric vehicle charging stations, allowing convenient charging for two electric cars. Charging is included in the price. A covered carport provides parking for up to four vehicles, and the property offers a total of eight parking spaces on site.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic! The accommodation was very luxurious. Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Host was responsive and helpful in everything. Kitchen had all the equipment and lots of space for cooking. The chalet itself had stylish cozy interior and was very spacious. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the spa and sauna a lot. The location was near the ski lifts and ski tracks started close to the backyard. Restaurants were walking distance away.

An absolutely wonderful place. The quality of the Chalet is in a class of its own compared to others I have ever stayed in. Lots of bedrooms and our larger group could easily accommodate. The experience was crowned by a huge spa-like space with a sauna and jacuzzi, where we relaxed after our outdoor activities. The host was very friendly. I can warmly recommend it.
