Ylläs Ski Resort is Finland’s largest ski resort, stretching between both villages and offering 62 slopes and 26 lifts, many with runs over 1 km in length and the longest ski runs extend up to three kilometres. Reliable Snow and Pure Arctic Environment
Ylläs is one of the snowiest fell areas in Finland, offering exceptionally reliable winter conditions throughout the season. Rising to an elevation of 719 metres above sea level, Ylläs is among the highest fell areas in Finnish Lapland, contributing to its long winter season and excellent snow reliability.
In a typical year, the first snowfall arrives in late September or October, with permanent snow cover usually forming by October–November. Thanks to the high elevation and northern location, the snowpack continues to build throughout winter and often remains well into spring, with snow cover commonly lasting until May on the slopes and higher terrain.
In addition to its outstanding snow conditions, Ylläs is renowned for having some of the cleanest air in the world and for being located well above the Arctic Circle — approximately 115 kilometres north of it — deep within the Arctic region.
